I've always thought of "The Church" as our version of "Big Pink". Nestled in the little township of Wainfleet, Ontario, amongst the farmers fields and the shorelines of Lake Erie. This magical institute of rock and roll belongs to the one and only, professor himself, Brandon "Carl" Elliott. Carl bought the old church in the early 2000's. The place has always had a special kind of energy to it. Since it was originally built to be a functioning church, it had a big wooden stage at one end and a balcony at the other, 25 foot high ceilings above and old maple hardwood below, beautiful stained glass windows surrounding the whole place and a baptism shower behind the stage. In the basement was a kitchen area and a couple other rooms. The whole place from top to bottom is soaked in the spirit of rock and roll. Although I moved away from my hometown 12 years ago, it sometimes seems like it was yesterday. When I get to hang with these fellas and make music it feels like I never left. The guy sitting on the steps in front is drummer/percussionist extraordinaire, Mark "Spag" Spagnuolo. There truly is no other drummer I've ever met that I'd rather have on the kit, congas, or tambo than this guy. Back left is Carl.
